Digital Architect Manager


This role is part of the Italian team of Accenture Digital/Accenture Interactive, Financial Services.
This role will accelerate opportunities towards our customers’ targeted solutions and deal-shape, complementing the local and offshore teams with experience and specific capabilities needed to propose and close digital initiative contracts. Accenture is looking for an Digital Services expert to join the Accenture Interactive team, able to work independently or as part of a team and to deliver complex projects within a challenging but collaborative context.
This person will participate in the overall strategy, analysis, design and implementation of our clients’ initiatives. This key member of our team will develop and communicate the detailed technology architecture and implementation strategy for the solution to the client and the project team. This is a great opportunity to lead technical teams through the design and development of complex Digital Services solutions while also providing plenty of opportunities for the individual to remain hands on with technology and software development.

The Digital Architect in this team combines a client-facing role with an internal team enabling focus. Key element of the job is to drive the implementation of innovative digital projects during the Sale phase and the orchestration of all the involved parties (legal, commercials, financials, policy approvers…).
The Digital Architect interprets and translates client requirements into a solution that can be configured from a standard set of offerings and acts as a SPOC for the solution both internally and externally.
Needed capability of handling multiple opportunities simultaneously and take end-responsibility for the defined solutions. Based on experience and deep market knowledge this skilled and enthusiastic individual defines the optimal solution shape and assist teams in defining and bringing the value proposition across internal and external stakeholders.
Members from this core team have end responsibility and stay involved until closure of client contract and support the pre-contract Due Diligence. They support also contracting and negotiation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Single Point of Contact Accountabilities
  • Understanding and translating buyer requirements into a standard solution offering deal approach, solution plan, proposal and cost estimate leveraging standard process methods, deliverables and the right collection of offerings
  • Leading from mid to large-scale digital initiatives implementations, providing both oversight and hands on contributions to the software design, development, and integration
  • Solution Planning and Deal Shaping for Qualified Deals
  • Collaborating as a key member of the sales team to represent the solution offering to the client buyer and other internal Accenture groups
  • Taking the lead in qualification of opportunities and drive the opportunity shaping
  • Managing interaction with the sales/solution team, Subject Matter Experts required during the sales process and the communication/collaboration with the delivery organization(s)
  • Interfacing with the delivery organization to ensure effective transition, shape services, collaborate on clear solution assumptions, determine appropriate service delivery locations and related cost to deliver
  • Orchestrating the action points coming out of the opportunity Quality Assurance process
  • Understanding and clearly defining the input required to create cost estimates; Preparing the cost model estimates working with delivery organization(s), Solution Management (if applicable) and CTS to deliver the defined scope of services
  • Aligning final solution architecture (including statement of work, schedules and other contractual documents) with final terms and conditions
  • Independently leading the estimation effort for a project
  • Participating in the development of conceptual and logical architectures
  • Designing, developing and maintaining application architectures for various business functional areas
  • Providing ideal solutions on server/network topologies, caching mechanisms, and data persistence based on the clients’ needs
  • Resolveing integration and interfacing issues between various back-end systems
  • Optimizing application performance and scalability
  • Demonstrating expertise with a broad set of development tools/technologies
  • Assisting the Project Manager in establishing team goals, objectives and budget
  • Independently interacting at the director-level in client organizations
  • Providing support to the sales effort on new business development pursuits, assisting with RFP responses, architecture assessments and technical qualifications.


This role requires a High Performing and energetic individual with a high level of professionalism and confidence. The role requires self-motivation and needs to be comfortable to interact with senior executives from both the Client and Accenture on a daily basis.

The main requested skills are:

  • Profound knowledge of the Digital and Multichannel fields
  • Minimum of Master’s Degree
  • In-depth Application and IT Architecture for Digital Services knowledge
  • 5-8 years of experience in Application and Solution Architect roles
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Ability to identify and understand the business and design objectives
  • Strong interest in broadening skills, as opposed to being narrowly focused
  • Ability to clearly explain complex issues
  • Planning ability
  • Good written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
  • Good presentations skills

  • Knowledge of the Financial Service Industry
  • Experience in application architecture/enterprise architecture, systems integration and development, and package implementation with knowledge of interactive design
  • Experience in multiple web technologies including: XML, HTML, XHTML, XML, CSS, AJAX/JavaScript, Web Services/SOAP, SQL
  • Experience with one or more Java concepts and patterns including: Java/J2EE, JSP, Spring, Sling, JMS, JUnit, AOP, MVC, Eclipse
  • Experience and full lifecycle involvement with both waterfall and Agile methodologies
  • Experience with multiple source control systems: CVS, SVN, Git
  • Working knowledge of multiple web and application tier technologies: Tomcat, WebSphere, Weblogic, Apache Http, Spring tcServer, Solr, open source packages
  • Experience with project automation technology: Jenkins, Continuum, Hudson, automated unit testing, Maven, Ant
  • Experience with the performance tuning and analysis: thread dump analysis, heap dump analysis, profilers, performance troubleshooting
  • Firm understanding of web application design and analysis, design patterns, and object oriented design
  • Experience with multiple Unix/Linux operating systems
  • Ability to articulate a vision of the total solution
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively interact with client senior management
  • Experience in a consulting environment
  • Demonstrated leadership, teamwork and collaboration in professional setting
  • Ability to define, create, and complete a technical task without guidance
  • Highly effective communication skills with client-facing and executive level management
  • Fluent English and Italian required, other languages a bonus.
