Web Copywriter / Content Manager

Description
Responsible for creating a mix of informational, instructional and promotional online copy to enhance the user experience. Working with a cross-functional team this role requires copywriting, creativity, business sense and content management expertise. The successful candidate will have experience in content creation that is strategically sound, consistently written and brand-appropriate while working in a fast paced, deadline driven environment.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Work as part of a highly collaborative cross-functional team on content strategy & copy development
- Demonstrate strategic, creative and critical thinking skills in writing compelling marketing copy and content including feature/benefit and customer centric messaging by channel and audience
- Develop clear, concise and compelling content that inspires an audience, improves user experience, increases SEO, supports key initiatives and influences call-to-action
- Drive and manage website content ensuring consistency, timeliness, relevancy, accuracy and reflects a strong company image to increase business results
- Participate in editorial strategy creation and implementation
- Deliver editorial guidance to support the consumer, builder, dealer experience and marketing program objectives
- Manage brand-specific language, content style and tone of voice as it pertains to overall brand strategy, purpose, and essence
- Determine content requirements, research and identify content sources, compile and synthesize content collected from a variety of sources
- Flexible to adjust copy based on user testing, web analytics and feedback to improve user-experience, navigation and conversion
- Create and maintain positive working relationships with all stakeholders in the content development process
- Ability to alter voice of customer-centric copy while maintaining brand tone, moving quickly and comfortably between multiple projects
- Monitor best practices in writing for the web, SEO, social media trends, web usability and business/industry trends
- Edit and repurpose print messaging for web in support of ongoing product development
- Possess intimate knowledge of writing style manuals to help develop and apply web content guidelines and standards
- Maintain awareness of competition's online content, including: website, e-newsletters, press releases and social media campaigns
Requirements and Experience:
- Educational level: B.A. degree in English, Marketing, Communications, Journalism, Creative Writing or a related field
- 5+ years experience writing and editing marketing copy and content that is well-conceived, strategic, clear and inspiring
- Superior knowledge of grammar, excellent proofreading skills with an expert command of writing compelling, benefit-oriented copy
- Strong problem solving skills, detail-oriented, organized, self-driven with the ability to manage workflow in a fast-paced creative team environment
- Solid understanding of how to communicate effectively in a digital environment, defining and developing online content
- Knowledge of and ability to work efficiently in MS Office Suite for PC/Mac
- Experience writing for on-line venues creating consumer, builder, dealer product-focused solutions and destinations preferred
- Knowledge of Building Science preferred
- Helpful to understand the frameworks for SEO, PPC, Web Analytics and the SEO Code of Ethics
